You may have heard of Data Studio, and even set it up, but not got around to doing anything with it. This is exactly what Google wants to remedy with a new blog series to help people do more with Data Studio.
Data Studio is a free Google resource where you can visualize your Search Console reports using customizable charts and templates. You can make the reports interactive with filters and data range controls, links and clickable images. You can collaborate and share with colleagues.
The aim is to enable you to understand your data better through visualizations and a more intuitive interface, which might help with more informed decision making.
New blog series
In the first of a new blog series on using Data Studio, Google outlines how to connect to Data Studio. There are two ways to do this, depending on whether you want to use the data from Search Console unchanged, or whether you want to enhance this data.
The first option is straightforward and can be done via the connector gallery.
The blog post covers the second option in detail as this is the more complex route, involving exporting the data, adding your own data on top, and then importing it into Data Studio. In their example, Google enhance the data with geographical regions taking you through how to do this step-by-step.
Google’s next blog post will look at the different types of dashboards, providing examples where you can follow along.
Data Studio resources
Google’s Data Studio page also has multiple resources to help you, including a Quick Start Guide, videos and tutorials.
The blog series looks like a useful addition to these, so check it out if you’re looking for ways to get to grips with Data Studio, and different ways to present and analyze your data.
