This week's 'Stuff we like' features the ultimate celeb selfie, Google's new graph SERP layout, our app of the week and more...

This week has been all about the Oscars. So let’s start with the record breaking tweet for the most shares by Ellen DeGeneres. Her tweet currently stands at an incredible 3 million retweets. Not only has the hype continued around the group celeb selfie itself, but there have also been numerous parodies including one from the Simpsons. Hoping to break the record again, Homer J Simpson tweeted the amusing "ugly truth of that Oscar selfie".

Today we heard that the world's largest photo service just made its pictures free to use. That's right, Getty images is no longer relying on licensing fees for its stock photos. Images will now come without a watermark, containing an image credit linking to the Getty site so they can be embedded on other sites. Getty will now be able to gather user information and run ads within branded and embeddable frames. A bit of a risky move, but a new way for them to make revenue.

On Tuesday evening we noticed Google’s new graph SERP layout. If you haven’t seen it yet, here's a look at the search term "Bacon”. If you’re wanting to know the calories in bacon, then this is a clear example of a search query that is completely owned by Google - meaning information is fulfilling the needs of a user without any requirement to visit any other website. Now that’s impressive!

Alex found this nsxt one and it’s pretty incredible. If you have ever wanted to know what our solar system looks like then here’s the “If the moon was only 1 pixel” - a tedious accurate scale model of the solar system. Keep scrolling and let us know what you think of the experience.

Finally, our app of the week goes to Gestr. Mal actually introduced me to this one, It’s described as a revolution of multitasking so it automatically caught my attention. If you’re a fan of keyboard shortcuts and generally the quickest way to use your computer, then this app is for you. Opening your apps can now be creative with your very own fancy gestures. Check out their tutorial to see examples, including drawing a "T" on your pad to quickly open TextEdit. I’m excited to have my secret shortcut.

See you all next week.
