New pilot lets site owners submit reports directly to search team.

Report indexing issue.

Google last week announced a new feature which will enable users to report an indexing issue directly to their search team.  The feature is currently being piloted in the US, and is expected to be fully available to everyone in the US “within a week or less”.

Google naturally recommends consulting support documentation and community forums if you have an issue to resolve. It says this new feature is available to those who need further support.

Users in the US logged in to Search Console will see a button to report an issue under the Index Coverage report and URL Inspection Tool pages in the Help Center.

This will be a useful feature for website owners, providing a way to get straight through to Google when issues need escalating.  It follows the launch of a similar program last year for site owners to report urgent bugs, which Google says has worked well, so there’s every chance the pilot will be made permanent and more widely available.
