Social commerce will come of age this holiday season with more and more shoppers beginning their purchasing journey on some form of social network.

For any business serious about its online sales strategy, employing social commerce tactics is no longer about behind ahead of the curve, it’s an integral part of what it means to be an e-tailer. The figures suggest those not strategizing a social commerce strategy will pay a big price in lost sales and lost revenue.

According to research by Shopify, nearly two thirds of all social media visitors to Shopify stores originate with Facebook. And each of the major social media networks, from Facebook to Pinterest, have all added a social commerce or buy now element to their offering. Selling online is no longer about having an eBay store or a Google shops listing. It’s about being smart about monetizing your social media presence and giving consumers the ability to purchase at every touch point.
